Things To Know Before You Go
When To Visit
The best time to visit Fredericksburg is March to April or September to November. Going in the spring allows for beautiful views of Texas Hill Country during Bluebonnet season. September to November offers cooler weather, making it a perfect time for outdoor activities. Fredericksburg also puts on impressive Christmas displays if you’re looking for a trip to take during the holiday season.
Where To Stay
From bed and breakfasts to ranches to Airbnbs, there’s no shortage of unique lodging options in Fredericksburg. Here are a few options:
Bed and Breakfast
The Hoffman House is a stunning bed and breakfast located just a couple blocks off of Main Street. Breakfast is served daily in a picnic basket left at your doorstep!

Sleep Next To Giraffes at Longneck Manor
If you’re looking for a very unique place to stay, you have to check out the Longneck Manor’s Giraffe Suite. Located inside the barn, the suite overlooks the giraffe stall, allowing you to get nose-to-nose with the giraffes.
Weekend Itinerary
Friday Night: Arrive in Fredericksburg + Dinner on Main Street
After arriving in Fredericksburg and checking into your lodging, make your way over to the bustling Main Street for dinner. We recommend dining at Hondo’s On Main, Altdorf Biergarten, Friedhelm’s Bavarian Inn Restaurant & Bar, or Fredericksburg Brewing Company.
After dinner, stroll along the Main Street shops and check out a brewery or two.
Saturday: Explore the Local Vineyards and Breweries
Start your morning off with breakfast at the Old German Bakery & Restaurant on Main Street. We highly recommend trying their famous German pancakes! Once you’re fueled up, it’s time to head out to Fredericksburg’s top attractions: all of the local vineyards! The majority are located along Highway 290, so it’s easy to travel between them and go to multiple in a day (make sure you have a designated driver!). If you prefer to go with an organized tour group that provides transportation, look into Absolute Charm Wine Tours or Peach Express Wine Tours.
Grapetown Vineyards
One of the most eccentric places to check out is Grapetown Vineyards. As a working ranch, Grapetown is home to a variety of safari animals including camels, kangaroos, and zebras. Check out their safari wine tour, where you’ll get a wine tasting and tour of the ranch.
Das Peach Haus
Das Peach Haus is Fredericksburg’s hidden gem. This old-timey general store sells local wine, cheese, and jam. Order a wine flight and sit out by the pond for a relaxing afternoon.
Signor Vineyards
Known as Texas’ Most Beautiful Vineyard, Signor is a must-visit while you’re in Fredericksburg. Tastings are available seven days a week. Reservations are encouraged and can be made at this link.
1693 Distillery
If you’re looking to switch it up from wine, head over to 1693 Distillery for some whiskey tastings. We recommend the 1693 flight!
Wildseed Farms
As you’re out and about, make sure to take some time to stop by the beautiful Wildseed Farms. Wildseed Farms is America’s largest working wildflower farm, spanning over 200 acres!

We recommend ending your day at Altstadt Brewery for dinner. This vibrant brewery serves up delicious German food, and usually has live music playing!
Sunday Morning: Hike Enchanted Rock
Before heading home, there’s one more activity to do: hike at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. Located about 20 minutes north of Fredericksburg, Enchanted Rock is a massive pink granite dome. The most popular hike is the Summit Trail. Make sure to wear hiking boots or tennis shoes with good traction – the path to the top consists of slick, steep rock. Reservations are highly encouraged and can be made starting 30 days in advance. More information about entry fees and reservations can be found at this link.
If you have more time…
Listen to Live Music at Luckenbach
Located about 11 miles south of Fredericksburg is the iconic unincorporated community of Luckenbach. Luckenbach was established as a trading post in 1849 and was made famous by the song “Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)” by Willie, Waylon, & The Boys. Wander around the old buildings to be taken back in time, or spend an evening relaxing and listening to live country music.
Go Antique Shopping
Did you know that Fredericksburg is home to over a dozen amazing antique shops? One of our favorite shops is the Red Baron Antique Mall! Head a few blocks off of Main Street to Caroline Street, where you’ll find no shortage of antique shopping options.
